Today's big news item of course is the funeral of Baroness Margaret Thatcher.
But another item in the news today were details of the Government services gateway website www.gov.uk which has won a design award for clarity.
The jury for Design of the Year 2013 in the digital category considered 98 entries and described the site as ‘well thought out yet understated in design, making the user experience simpler, clearer and faster’.
This prompted me to visit the site and I agree with the jury. So many official websites are very complicated and difficult to navigate and understand but .gov.uk is very clear and straightforward.
On navigating around the site I came across a potentially very useful page under the Businesses and self-employed category. This being the Selling your Business page which links to a number of different pages giving guidance on Your Responsibilities, Entrepreneurs Relief, Limited Company issues and so on.
It's refreshing to see such information available from the horses mouth, so to speak. So for buyers and sellers alike I recommend this as a port of call during your purchase or sale transaction.
Of course, Government advice, whilst valuable, can only serve as a small part of your overall consulting and information gathering. You must also take timely and relevant advice from your accountant, tax adviser, solicitor and business broker or agent of course.
